TRAUMaMAN

Men’s counseling at the Trauma Help Centre Munich

Over 80 percent of the victims of domestic violence are women. But there are also men who are traumatized by domestic and/or sexual violence. Empirical studies show that men hardly talk about these experiences, nor do they even share them. This means that a not inconsiderable number of men live with experiences of violence. Often, these experiences can lead to traumatization, which alters the behavior and perception of those affected. Characteristic features of this experience are aggressive behavior against oneself and others, insecurity in relationships, mistrust and suspicion, poor impulse control and low self-esteem. Affected men can now receive special support.

PROJECT AIMS

Through its funding, the CHAJA Foundation hopes to point out the need for such support offerings, to create/maintain a safe space for those affected and to make the issue of domestic and sexual violence against men more visible.
